I don't know what was more impressive...the gigantic smoker, the food (esp. the BBQ chicken), or the art creations! All I know is that I am going back! And I'll recommend it to my friends!

Inspired by Jalna and her food photos, I tried my hand at it. Maybe I'll stick to people/location shots. They don't look as good as hers! I'll keep trying, though :-)

One of my other passions...rubber stamping! I had an open house this past weekend, both Saturday and Sunday...this is Sunday morning. Still nice and organized but the room itself is an organized mess! Sensory overload for some!

I am so thankful my hubby is supportive of my habits...he made this room just for me. The mess is all mine...if up to him, he'd get rid of at least half the stuff!

And that dog on the floor...yes, she's alive! This room is our favorite hangout of the whole house.

Project #1-Sympathy card/reverse masking technique
VERY quick and easy...Baja Blue-mat, reverse mask, Bordering Blue-tree and words.

Project #2-Using the new texturing plates!
Brayer your plate with Kiwi Kiss, run it through with Very Vanilla c/s. Punch right side/centered with 1 1/4" circle punch. Adhere to Elegant Egglant and using a slit punch, punch slit just inside of circle. Tie Kiwi Kiss ribbon through the slit. Adhere a 1" x 4 1/4" Kiwi Kiss c/s at the top. Using the new Elegant Thank You, stamp with Always Artichoke onto Vanilla c/s. Punch out with 1 1/4" Square punch, layer on Artichoke Scallop Square. Another easy card and LOVE the colors!

Open House 2009-additional details

These were the 2 projects we did at my Stampin' Up (SU) open house.

The first card uses a new stamp featured on p. 208 of the Spring/Summer 09 catalog. Very different for SU as they normally don't sell stamps individually but this is perfect for the occasional stamper who wants only a few stamps and not a whole lot. The bottom part of the card features the texturizing plates that are new to this season also. LOVE these plates...4 plates with 2 different designs on each side! Gives you a whole new option for backgrounds. People who attended got to use the Big Shot to create this background by brayering a color (old olive) to the plate, placing it onto the multi-purpose platform, then placing a sheet of card stock over that, then scrap paper, then 2 different pads to give you a good impression...YES, I do agree, a whole lot of details but the end product is SO worth it!

The second card is super easy, it probably takes about 4 minutes to make and assemble, excluding the prep time. Place a mask made out of post-it notes onto your card stock, ink up a stipple brush with Baja Breeze. Pounce your brush all along the inside edge of your mask. Remove your mask, stamp your tree (LOVE this tree from "Thoughts and Prayers" another favorite from the new catalog!) and saying in Bordering Blue. Mount onto Baja Breeze...it's THAT easy!

This was a fun shoot...what a blessing to capture Rachel, Jarrett, Christine and James. They have yet to choose their group's name but I know it'll be blessed by the Lord! For now, I refer to them as Rachel and Crew.
